Shackles

  • ❖ Solid forged without any weld in line with IS 6132 (Part 1):1971 regarding terminology, workmanship and finish and inspection and examination
  • ❖ The material of Grade 63 shackles contains steel conforming to following designations,

    ➢ 40Cr 4 / 40Cr 4 Mo 3 / 35Ni 5 Cr conforming to IS 4367:1991 Alloy steel forgings for general industrial use.

    ➢ 13Ni 13 Cr 3 or 15Ni 16 Cr 5 2 conforming to IS 4367:1991 for use in high temperature conditions.

  • ❖ Hardness of the body and pin after heat treatment between 248302 BHN when tested in accordance with IS 1500:2005Method for Brinell hardness test for steel.
  • ❖ The screw threads are conforming to IS 4218 (Part 1 to 6).
  • ❖ Inspection, test and examination are carried out in accordance with IS6132 (Part 1):1971.
